'Lazy' for Two Years

I have been a 'lazy' vegetarian for two years now!

What does that even mean?!

That means that, while I do not cook or purchase meat for myself, I still will eat seafood or even chicken/small amounts of beef if I am served it while out if there are no other options (think dinner at people's houses or parties). This probably happens once every two months or so. Luckily, my stomach has not had any adverse reactions to any meat I have occasionally consumed. I also have only been sick a very minimal amount since going vegetarian- I think consuming less hormones is a big part of that (and my increased vegetable intake). I like that I am not so strict and limiting with myself that I can still have meat if I am craving it or in a situation where it is the only option- that way I can listen to my body and ease any cravings (though I think in two years I probably have only craved chicken or turkey a very few times and when I did it was mostly due to the sauce the meat was in)! Some vegetarians probably don't agree with my philosophy, but it works for me and that is what matters. I feel I am still doing my part.

Here's to many more years of the same!

3 Years!

To all my dear readers, it is the 3 year anniversary of when I revamped this blog! Its true conception was the spring of 2008 while I was at UVA (albeit as a joke with my roommates), but it was neglected for a while before I took it upon myself to make blogging a bigger part of my life in January of 2010. Since then I have made friends in the blogging community, reconnected with old friends, and hit over 10,000 pageviews. So a BIG THANK YOU is in order to all my friends, family and readers I do not know for your encouragement, feedback and comments to this blog! I have really enjoyed opening up a window into my life (and all my random thoughts) for you all!

Please continue (or start) to message me or comment on posts- I love reading your comments, and I love to know who is reading:) If you have any topics you want me to post about, I am always open for suggestions!

Here's to 3 more years!

One Year Ago Today

One year ago today I woke up with 20/450 vision (meaning I would run into things without glasses or contacts on) and went to bed on my way to 20/15.

Happy Anniversary, New Eyes!

It amazes me to think it has been a year. I vividly remember the annoyances of glasses and contacts, but my eye site is so good now that I don't even think about how FABULOUS it is that I don't need either anymore. It will pay off for me everyday for the rest of my life, even though the initial monetary payment is done. I know I may eventually need reading glasses, but I am covered for any other eye adjustments until I die. Woooo! So for those of you thinking about Lasik....DO IT!

Also, this anniversary got me to thinking about something that I do that not a lot of other people do. I have all of my daily planners with homework assignments and what I have done on afternoons, evenings and weekends since I was fourteen. So I am able, on any given day, to flip open my planners and know exactly what I did each day. I am glad I started this, because I think is it nice to go back and remember where I went, who I was with, if I worked or volunteered or what kind of test I had the next day in school. It's fun to occasionally take a trip down memory lane, and it is a very cool way to remember even the smallest things (because those are what make up the bulk of our lives) or how you were feeling (since events are tied to feelings). I've come far since fourteen... and even since last year, not just thanks to my new eyes, but for positive changes all around!
